Music Videos as Art

I love it when music videos not only entertain, but bring along amazing concepts and ideas that also inspire me. Here are a few music videos that are quite interesting:

"Lights Out" by Santigold

The thing I love about this video is the simple use of the patterned backgrounds and how they are integrated with the singers. Not too flashy, just simple & sweet like the song.

"Sleepyhead" by Passion Pit

This music video uses an unconventional way to show the sounds of the singer & and electronic music. Reminds me of some crazy machine

"Fell in Love with a Girl" by White Stripes

Animation through legos-what's not to love?

"D.A.N.C.E" by Justice

One of my favorites-t-shirts and graphics galore!

"Saeglopur" by Sigur Ros

The cinematography in this is absolutely amazing. The music and the imagery go perfectly together, sinking into the ocean.

"Substitution" by Silversun Pickups

An unusual combination; but a rather amusing mixture of a vintage, cheesy style with prissy girls playing musical chairs. Strangely, it works!

"You've Changed" by Sia

Speaking of cheesy vintage, this entire video parodies a video game/photo booth, giving it the quirky and perky style that is Sia.

"Her Morning Elegance" by Oren Lavie

This beautifully done stop-motion music video gained so much popularity over the past year that I just had to include it in here. This music video gained so much popularity that companies, such as Target, have used a similar concept in some of their commercials.
